Solve Regulatory Issues with Regulators on Ground

Regulatory compliance and processes generate a significant amount of work for commercial lawyers, and dealing with many regulatory agencies can be challenging especially where matters are unresolved due to poor feedback mechanism. One of the value additions at the SBL Annual Business Law Conference is to midwife the process of resolution for many regulatory complaints by bringing the regulators and lawyers together at the event. The SBL regulatory clinic creates a forum for Conference attendees to meet with resolution officers from regulators who can resolve lingering challenges.

The Regulatory Clinic proposes to have amongst others the following Regulators in attendance:

  1. Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC)
  2. The Patent and Trademarks Registry
  3. National Office for Technology Acquisition and Promotion (NOTAP)
  4. The EFCC-Special Control Unit Against Money Laundering (SCUML)
  5. Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC)
  6. Financial Reporting Council

The Regulatory Clinic will run as an onsite enquiries and complaints resolution center close to the Conference Venue that will be manned by the Members of the Subcommittee and the complaints resolution officers from the regulatory agencies that will enable effective resolution of complaints on the spot and also address other issues that lawyers would otherwise require a physical visit to the Regulators offices to resolve.
