Hon Justice Kashim Zannah obtained his Bachelor of Laws, LL. B (Hons) from Ahmadu Bello University of Nigeria, Zaria (1983). After a successful Bar vocation course (BL) at the Nigerian Law School Lagos (1984), he was called to the Nigerian Bar. Hon. Justice Kashim Zannah is Chief Judge of the High Court of Justice of Borno State in Nigeria.  He was first appointed to the High Court in 1997 and was elevated to Chief Judge in 2006.

Justice Zannah is the Deputy President at the International Organization for Judicial Training (IOJT) and sits on the boards of several international bodies in the field of law and justice, such as the International Society for the Reform of Criminal Law (ISRCL}, the Commonwealth Judicial Education Institute (CJEI) and the International Institute for Judicial Excellence (IIJE), The Hague. He was awarded the Medal of the International Society for the Reform of Criminal Law (ISRCL} in 2012 and the United States National Centre for State Courts (NCSC) Distinguished Service Award in 2013.
