Charles Anudu is a versatile entrepreneur who has been severally acknowledged for his contributions to entrepreneurial development in Nigeria.

He obtained a Bachelor of Agriculture degree from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) in 1983, specializing in Crop Protection and a Master of Science degree in Plant Ecology from the University of Ibadan, Ibadan. Charles has also bagged a Diploma in Computer and Telecommunications Electronics from Devry Institute of Technology, Mississauga, Ontario, Canada.

He is the founding Managing Director and Chairman of The Candel Company Limited, a foremost agricultural inputs development and marketing company with operations in Nigeria, Ghana and recently Cote d’iviore. Candel has several offices in Nigeria and recently launched the first world-class agrochemical formulation plant in Nigeria, operating at the Lekki Free Zone, Lagos.

Charles is also the Founder and Managing Director of Swift Networks Limited, a leading Broadband Telecommunications Service Provider for converged voice, video and data access services to business and consumer subscribers.
Charles had earlier worked for Rhone-Total Nigeria Limited as Agrochemical Manager and later May & Baker Nigeria Plc as General Manager (Agrochemicals), a position he left to found Candel.
He has attended many Executive Development Courses in business including:

  • Advanced Management Programme (AMP-1), Lagos Business School (LBS), Lagos, Nigeria
  • Owner-President Management Programme (OPM-39), Harvard Business School, Boston, Massachusetts, USA (Class representative for the Africa region)
  • Owner-Director Programme, INSEAD, Fontainebleau, France.

Charles has enormous national and international business experience, having traveled and consulted widely in Africa, Europe and North America. Mr. Anudu was an invited Speaker at many international events and sits on the Board of many organisations, including:

  • 2005 NEPAD Summit on the implementation of the CAADP, Accra, Ghana, May 5-6.
  • Corporate Council on Africa’s U.S.-AFRICA Business Summit, Baltimore, Maryland, USA (June 21-24, 2005).
  • Mazungumzo Roundtable on European Partnership Agreements (EPAs), Brussels, Belgium (June 26, 2012).
  • Charles has received many awards including the
    • Distinguished Alumni Award of both Lagos Business School and University of Nigeria.
    • He has also received the distinguished SME Partner Award of Fidelity Bank Plc.
  • Charles is a member of the Editorial Advisory Board of BusinessDay Newspapers and a member
  • He is also currently an Advisory Board member nominee of the School of Media and Communications, Pan Atlantic University, Lagos, Nigeria.
  • Ex-Forum moderator of the Young Presidents Organization / World Presidents Organization (YPO/WPO).
  • He was also a member of the Nigeria Industrial Policy and Competitiveness Advisory Council (NIPCAC) of the Federal republic of Nigeria (2015-2019).
  • He was on the board of many for-profit and non-profit organizations including LEAP Africa and Fuel Communications Ltd, the latter where he is an independent director and Chairman of the Board.
  • Charles is a regular facilitator of programmes in Ethics and Entrepreneurship at the Lagos Business School, Lagos, Nigeria, where he helps to develop the next generation of managers and entrepreneurs for Nigeria.

He is married to Fidelma and they have four children.
