Uzoamaka Emerole

Uzoamaka Emerole is a Partner in the Firm. She is a member of the Corporate and Commercial Practice Group and leads the Intellectual Property Department.

She constantly advises IP owners, creatives, individuals, and small, medium, and large businesses on the strategies to put in place to better protect their creative works, brands, innovative products and processes, and trade secrets; proffering solutions to meet their growing needs across key Industry Sectors within and outside Nigeria.

She provides legal support on diverse local and multi-jurisdictional transactions ranging from securing protection, management, prosecution, enforcement, acquisition, transfer, and exploitation of all types of intellectual property rights. She generally advises on technology transfer, e-commerce, consumer protection, advertising and marketing, regulatory compliance, data privacy and protection, and commercial IP transactions which include franchising, distributorship, and licensing arrangements.

She regularly participates in merger and acquisition deals, legal due diligence and audit exercises including IP audits on assets of varied target companies. She also has extensive experience in government regulation of pharmaceutical, food, cosmetics, and medical device products; counselling interested persons and stakeholders on regulatory strategies and compliance.

Uzoamaka acts for clients across a range of sectors, including but not limited to Telecommunications, Pharmaceuticals, Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCGs), Sports, Media and Entertainment, Gaming, Agriculture, Financial Services, Hospitality, Petroleum, Automotive, Electronics, Education, Not for Profit, Fashion, Technology; etc.

She attended the Lagos State University (LLB) and University of Lagos (LLM) and was admitted to the Nigerian Bar in 2003. In 2017, she obtained a Certificate of Proficiency from Harvard Law School for its Copyright X program.
