Anastasia Braimoh LL.B, BL, MBA Corp. Gov., FCIS.

Anastasia O. Braimoh is a legal Practitioner with over 34 years at the Bar. She holds an MBA in Corporate Governance and membership to a number of professional Associations and Institutes. She is an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Stockbrokers (ACIS), Associate, Institute of Capital Market Registrars (ICMR), Associate (ABR) Business Recovery & Insolvency Practitioner (BRIPAN), Associate, Institute of Fraud examiners, Associate, Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (ACIArb), Associate, Toronto Centre Global Leadership in Financial Supervision and a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators (FCIS).

Anastasia is an experienced legal professional with a strong focus gained in the financial and capital market industry in Nigeria. She rose to the top of her profession as Director at the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) Nigeria, where she was Head, Legal Department for over 18 years and Head Enforcement Department for 4 months. She has significant knowledge in financial and capital markets in other jurisdiction such as in the United States, United Kingdom, South Africa, Malaysia and West Africa.

She has led and served in several industry, national and international Committees regarding various issues concerning the economy and  financial markets such as; Committee on review of the ISA 1999 and 2007, Committee on review of SEC Corporate Governance Code, Presidential Committee on Review of Tax Laws in Nigeria, Member of the Presidential Committee Financial Action Task Force (PCOF) on Money Laundry/Combating the Financing of Terrorism (AML/CFT), Capital Market Committee Rules and Regulation Sub Committee, International Organization of Securities Commission (IOSCO) Committee on Investor Protection, the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL), SEC Representative on Committee II “Procurement” and Committee VI “Security Interest”,  International Centre for Settlement of Dispute (ICSID) amendment Rules, Washington, USA etc.

She was a member of the Board of Trustees, Investor Protection Fund (IPF) of the Nigerian Exchange Limited. She is the first Vice Chairman of the Corporate and Regulatory Counsel Committee of the Nigerian Bar Association – Session on Business Law and member of the Board of Mentors for Governance Practitioners Committee of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators of Nigeria.
